2016 9th Annual Graphic Novel/Manga Challenge Sign-Ups

The 9th Year of this Challenge starts in 2016 and will be my 5th year as host and I am thrilled to be here!!!!!  WOOOOHOOOO!!!

designed by Nicola Mansfield

The button this year is designed by "moi". I had someone cancel on me at the last minute so decided to finally give it a shot myself for the first time.  The scary (perhaps interesting?) looking dude in the picture is my oldest son. I got that image from a photoshoot he participated in this year. No, he's not a professional model; he's a software engineer but can be found dressed like a comic book character in his spare time. Just kidding son, if you read this (LOL)

Anyway ....

It's time to start signing up for the 2016 challenge.  No changes this year, but if anyone has any ideas for the big 10-year celebration next year get in touch with me.

2012 Sign Ups

Hello Folks! This is Nicola @ Back to Books here. I will be your new host for the Graphic Novels Challenge. I've been a member of this challenge since the beginning when Dewey started it. I read a huge amount of graphic novels & manga each year and was a Panelist for the Cybil Award Graphic Novels Category for two years, 2009/10. I love it when new people discover that GNs are not just for kids and are not just collections of comic books. Of course, some of them are those things, not that there's anything wrong with that!, but there is a world of viable literature that can be found in the graphic form also.

Whatever kind you like to read, as long as it has a comic balloon or two we'll classify it as a Graphic Novel, even if it's non-fiction!

One change I'm making this year is simplifying the goal. This year we will make the target to read 12 books between Jan.1 and Dec. 31, 2012. This will give us a goal to reach.

Of course, if you reach 12 books feel free to continue posting links to your reviews throughout the year for others to discover new titles.

Everything else will stay the same. I'll be updating the side bars and adding your names to the participants list as you join.

Sign-Up for the new year!

2011 Graphic Novels Challenge

Hey guys! It's Vasilly and I'm the newest host for the the Graphic Novels Challenge. I want to thank Nymeth and Chris for keeping this challenge going strong for the rest of us in 2010. This was one of the challenges that Dewey started and I'm happy to see that it's still going on years later.

So the rules are basically still the same:

  1. The challenge starts January 1, 2011 and ends December 31, 2011. You can start anytime you want to especially if you want to start early.
  2. The level of participation: Beginner (3 comics or graphic novels), Intermediate (3-10 books), or Expert (10+)
  3. Overlaps with other challenges is definitely okay
  4. Re-reads count
  5. Feel free to post your list at any time
One of the things that will change is mini-challenges. I don't think I'm going to have them this year but I will host a monthly spotlight on one book or author every month. I'm also hoping to feature a guest post every month along with monthly prizes. So sign up!
